Turning thirty is overrated. Who said you had to be married with a fabulous career and three kids? I had a great life. Single, freedom to do whatever I please, and best of all, stay home on a Friday night in my sweats, eating pizza while listening to the best of the ’80s.
I’m fine.
When a woman says she’s fine, she’s not fine. Zoey had it all. Stunning looks, ambition, the whole package. Then he fucked her up. He broke her.
And now I’m left picking up the pieces…again.
Zoey Richards, strong-willed and driven, settled on the geeky struggling med student to share her apartment with, not the perfect-in-every-way stud who would just distract her and undoubtedly break her heart.
When her ex comes back into the picture, Zoey seeks revenge and enlists her roommate’s help. All Zoey and Drew need to do is pretend to be a couple for one night. But one night can change everything. Refusing to break their “roomie code,” and in an effort to deny their feelings for each other, a war erupts between Zoey and Drew.
She lives in the past; he, for the future. If opposites attract, will these two gamble their friendship for a chance at love?

Roomie Wars is a standalone romance and is not related to any other books written by this author.

Zoey is just about to turn 30, is in a job that seems to be going nowhere fast and is nursing a crushed heart following the break-up with the latest bad boy. Much to her roomie’s disgust, she has spent too many months sitting on the couch and gorging on crap t.v, 80’s music and junk food. To top it off, she also has the pleasure of watching her roommate and best friend parade an endless amount of hook-ups through their apartment. Who knew 4 years ago that the chubby nerd called Andrew would become a chick magnet, health freak now going by Drew.

Drew has watched Zoey go from an ambitious hot young woman into a broken hearted slob. Gone is the strong-willed woman he met 4 years ago and it is all down to a man that never deserved her anyway. Like always he is there for her, encouraging and being the best friend he can be. But when the chance of losing her becomes too real, will he be honest about his feelings? Or will he deny them to keep their friendship intact?

They have worked as roommates for so long because they have never broken the rules they set and stuck to from the start. But when Jess makes a re-appearance, Zoey asks Drew a huge favour. Lines will get blurred and their friendship may or may not suffer. Will they follow the roomie code or will they break them all?

Another great read from an author that is fast becoming a favourite of mine. Once again, as with her previous read #Jerk, Kat has wrote a book that is in essence a romantic comedy, but a rom-com that has a little bit more heart to it. I laughed, my heart broke and of course, as with all her books, expect there to be the angst factor.

I totally related to Zoey. Her life is at a crossroads and she can’t choose the best direction for the fog that blinds her. The only beacon is Drew, but the feeling that he has begun to stir are a struggle for her because he is the only person in her life who she trusts. As for Drew, well he is hot and yes he knows it. A total man-whore, but one with a heart and one that cares deeply for Zoey. When he is faced with losing her, his true feelings surprise him. In his heart he is still the boy with lingering abandonment issues and he is unwilling to risk their friendship because of any unrequited feelings he may have.

A great pull and push friends to lovers romance, with lots of laughs, nostalgic 80’s music references and two characters that would rather go to war than risk rejection and the loss of a friendship. A really enjoyable summer read. Another book by an author I highly recommend.
