Series: The Record Series #4
Clay Maxwell is a smart, quick witted, sex-driven, manwhore with the good looks to match. Plenty of women have shared his bed, but only one has ever been constant, Andrea.
Their rules were simple. When they’re together, it’s just the two of them. When they’re apart, anything is fair game. And it worked. For ten years.
But one of them has changed the game…
Clay must decide if his player ways are worth losing the one girl who has always been there.
Book 4 in The Record series. The series moves on from Brady and Liz now that they have found their HEA, exploring another characters love life. You do not need to have read the previous 3 books in the series to enjoy Struck From The Record, but it will make this read much more enjoyable if you have.
Clay Maxwell has always lived in the shadow of his White House bound older brother. Coming from a political dynasty has its positives, but it also has its negatives as well. Being the second son and middle child he always felt he wasn’t good enough, especially for his father who has much bigger plans for Brady than he does for Clay. However, he is determined to prove himself and become everything his father expects. The only person who he has never had to impress is Andrea, his girlfriend of 10 years and best friend since he met her on a beach when they were just 13. Their relationship is the one thing he doesn’t need to think about. Complicated to anyone looking in, their open relationship may seem unconventional to most, but for them it works… until it doesn’t.
With his career on the up and on track to meet the expectations set by his father, Clay now finds himself fighting for something he didn’t know he wanted until it was gone. Will he be able to live up to the standards expected of a Maxwell? But most importantly will he be able to meet the expectations of the only person in the world that matters?
I have so been waiting for this book. I really loved Clay in the first 3 books. The complete opposite to Brady, Clay was fun, flirty and obviously had hang ups when it came to his older brother. It was also clear that his love life was varied, even though he had a long-term girlfriend. I couldn’t wait to dig deeper and find out more, and I am pleased to say Ms Linde didn’t let me down.
So if you are expecting a book like the previous 3, think again. This book doesn’t take place in the politics of Capitol Hill, it is a story that takes place in the hearts of Clay and Andrea. This is very much a book about how people change, how they eventually want more and how relationships evolve or simply end. Clay has been so happy playing the game and following their rules, he hasn’t stopped to think about whether Andrea continues to enjoy their games herself. It is an absolute angst fest and has many a twist and turn along the way. I loved that it was told from Clay’s point of view, and the author really does a great job of making him so endearing, even when he is being an arse.
A brilliant addition to a great series. I now look forward to the youngest Maxwell sibling’s story. Really well set up in this read, if Brady and Clay’s books are anything to go by I will need to buckle up and look forward to another rollercoaster ride.
