They've spent their lives pushing each other away, but what will happen when they need each other most?
Anita Martin doesn't expect much from life. Growing up on the street, bouncing from one foster home to another, she learned to rely only on herself. Even after she finally found a loving family to take her in, she was still an outsider-something Abraham, one of the family's older sons, never let her forget.
Abraham Evans doesn't know how Ani always manages to get under his skin, only that's she's been doing it since they were teens. She is-and always has been-undeniably gorgeous. But he's never met anyone as pissed off at the world as Ani.
For fifteen years, Ani and Bram have agreed on exactly one thing: they can't stand each other-until one night when their anger gives way to passion. Yet even as Ani and Bram begin to secretly seek comfort in one another's arms, they remain emotionally worlds apart. When Ani's life takes a dramatic turn and she realizes she needs more than Bram can give, their fragile, no-strings relationship unravels. One way or another, Ani is determined to survive. But when Bram finally admits his true feelings, he may discover Ani has moved on without him . . .

Book 2 in the Fostering Love series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading them in the order they were written as all the characters’ lives are so entwined.

Anita Martin has been part of the Evans family for 15 years. Her childhood was difficult and she spent both time on the streets as well as time in numerous foster homes. She finally struck gold when the Evans added her to a family full of children that needed love. She is close to her foster siblings Katie and Alex, but her relationship with Abraham has always been a little more complicated; okay a lot complicated. They fight like cat and dog and have no time for each other… until they do.

Bram Evans is so thankful that he and his twin Alex were adopted by the Evans family. As part of a loving extended family, he has always been protective of his younger sister and cousins. Even Ani, who was a late arrival to their family has his protection, even if she rubs him up the wrong way… all the time. So when suddenly their relationship changes, he is unsure how it will effect both the plans he doesn’t want for his future or whether it will change the dynamics of the family he holds close to his heart.

So will the no-strings relationship they start up go the distance? Or will pressures of the present and the effects of their childhoods get in the way?

I am seriously loving this authors’ work, especially as this series is so far removed from her other MC series. I am such a sucker for a good family drama. This book although a romance is also a real journey for the Evans family and the cousins they have grown up with. As with book 1, it isn’t sparkly and full of an unrealistic hearts and flowers romance. It is a book where the characters need to work for their HEA’s, maybe more so individually than together.

Anita and Bram have issues, particularly, as expected, relating to their difficult childhoods. Bram was lucky enough to be adopted at a young age, but his memories keep him from committing to anyone including Ani. Anita on the other hand is stubborn and hard-faced. Unlike Bram she entered the family in her later teenage years, when Both Bram and Alex had moved out. It meant that she has always felt a little more of an outsider, made even worse by the tempestuous relationship she has always had with Abraham.

Expect heartbreak, tragedy, a loving family and the trials and tribulations that all that can bring. I can’t fault Nicole Jacquelyn’s writing, the depth to the characters and the emotions she was able to evoke in me throughout this book. It is a book that depicts real life and love, and although we all wish for a knight in shining armour, most knights will have some dents, a little rust and a few cobwebs hidden away too.

If you are a fan of Nicole’s MC series, but haven’t yet branched out to this one… DO!! You will also love this if she is a new author to you, but you like your romance to be a bit more like real-life.

I now can’t wait for the next books in the series, I just hope I don’t have to wait too long (in either of her brilliant series’)
