Jackson is a wonderfully written story of two good people finding shelter and love in one another whilst battling hurt and the inner demons that plague them.

Jackson is such a deep, beautiful multifaceted character that his moods and actions not only gave me the proverbial whiplash but had my heart hurting. Child abuse is never an easy subject and it is touched upon sympathetically here through clever writing, although the impact it creates for our main protagonist is devastating, making Jackson volatile and self-destructive.

His outlets are private, hidden behind his stern inked-up bad-boy exterior – only a select few know what Jackson is really trying to overcome and helping him in anyway they can, but his one balm, that one saviour is his best friend’s grieving widow, Summer.

Summer had it all; a nice apartment, a husband she loved and the best friend a girl could ever ask for, until one night changed everything proving all she ever believed was a lie.

Trying to overcome the ultimate betrayal has been hard but her solace comes in her best friend; he is her rock, his arms cradle her pain, the connection they share the only thing that keeps her grounded… yet what happens when that rock leaves without a word? No trace. No indication of running leaves Summer baffled and upset.

Jackson’s triggers are becoming harder to deal with, he had to leave for her sake as he moves from the busting life of London city to the warmth and golden sands of California, starting anew even as he mourns for the woman he can never have.

Summer does not do running away, as she follows Jackson to California in the hope of answers and reconciliation, but what she finds is the real man, the one who has been hiding in the shadows of his own personal hell…and it’s just about to be unleashed!

What a book this was!! Jackson will destroy you before slowly putting you back together again.

Summer is a broken heroine facing a monumental dilemma when the friend she falls in love with proves her biggest challenge yet.

This is a story of pain, and yet from it born something profoundly beautiful.

If you love romances with grit, a touch of danger and anti-heroism with sex appeal off the charts, then yeah… Jackson is your next read!!!
