Book 5 in the Something series. This book can absolutely be read as a standalone, but take my advice and read them all. This series has received 5 Crowns from me for each release, yes I have loved it that much. Show Me Something is no different.

Juliette Walker and her son Tristan have moved from Charlotte to Connecticut. Away from her family, her best friends, the job she loves but most importantly away from the fallout over her husbands’ arrest. Childhood sweethearts, their marriage had been over for longer than she cares to admit, but following his arrest for corruption in his position as a police officer, Juliette’s priority is the safety of her son. Luckily her best friend Brian has hooked her up with friends and they have taken her under their wings. But it is someone she least expects that helps her move forward, giving her hope for the future. But how do you move forward when the past isn’t resolved?

Mark Hines doesn’t date. Having lost his fiancée many years ago, he has emerged himself in work. His social life revolves around his best friends from college and that is enough for him; until Juliette. She brings out his protective feelings, she also evokes emotions that he has long since buried. He can see a future with her, but with his past so present, will he be able to let it go? Or is he forever destined to live a lonely life.

I seriously LOVE this series. Every single book has hit the mark for me because of the perfect balance of love, humour, sex, friendship, heart-break and angst that the very talented Aubrey Bondurant has brought to each story. Once again she gives us two very loveable, but complicated characters. This isn’t an easy love story. You think it might be and then bam the story changes, throwing your emotions all over the place.

Mark has featured in each book. He has always been somewhat elusive, his character quiet, sensible, yet likeable, and it was always made clear he was dealing with the loss of his fiancée. I have been looking forward to his book for ages as I just wanted to know more about him. Aubrey broke my heart with his story, but that is all I will say. What I will say is the saying about watching out for the quiet ones is true. Never read a book by its cover, Mark is a sexy dork and I loved him. As for Juliette, she is his perfect match. Where Mark is reserved, she has total verbal diarrhoea and it gets her into trouble. She adores her son and is a loyal, fun friend. She has dealt with a lot and her self-esteem is at an all-time low. So with them both weighed down with heavy baggage, will they find happiness together… well you will just have to read it and find out for yourself.

So as I conclude this review, I do so with a heavy heart. This is the final book in a series that I have adored. I took a chance on a new author when I accepted the review request for book 1, and that has turned Aubrey Bondurant into a favourite author of mine who I unashamedly facebook stalk to find out when I will get the next book. So although I am sad, I also look forward to her next chapter. With her talent at creating engaging storylines and loveable characters, it gets me all kinds of excited.

I really can’t recommend this series and indeed this book enough. Only great reads get 5 Crowns from me, but to give every book in a series 5 Crowns is a rarity. Well done Aubrey, Show Me Something is the big juicy cherry on top of the most fabulous cake.

Teach Me Something is book 4 in the Something series; a series of standalones featured around a group of friends. You do not need to have read any of the other books to enjoy this one, however because they are so good I recommend you do. You will get to know the characters that bit more and you will feel like you are revisiting old friends as soon as you start reading.

Catherine Davenport is a very successful business woman. Editor-in-Chief of the world famous Cosmo Life magazine, her knowledge and influence in the fashion world is unrivalled. Life should be perfect, and professionally it is; it’s her personal life that leaves a lot to be desired. Married and undergoing IVF for a much wanted baby, her husband suddenly up and left her for a younger model. That was 2 years ago and he left behind a woman insecure in her personality and what she can bring to a relationship. She absolutely sucks at dates and the small talk that is so important in finding “the one”. So she secretly starts taking classes at a sex club to give her the tools she needs now that she is ready to move on and dip her toe in the dating pool.

Calvin is her masked instructor. Strictly no sex, he advises her on the do’s and don’ts of starting a relationship. He makes her really evaluate her wants and desires, encouraging her to be confident and assertive; even if this is totally out of her comfort zone. But a trip to Vegas with her closest friends changes everything. Sometimes the person who fits you perfectly, comes in a package you don’t expect. When Catherine finds her something, it turns out to be closer to home than she thinks.

Will she put Calvin’s advice into practice or will the insecurities and heartache of her past and her influential career ruin what could be a love she never saw coming?

I could write pages and pages about how much I adore this series. Aubrey Bondurant’s Something series never ever lets me down; in fact it just seems to go from strength to strength. At the heart of every book has been a butterfly inducing love story. They are always my favourite, but because of that I am seriously picky. They are either too superficial, too repetitive, have too much sex or just don’t have any substance to them. All of those things can never be said about Aubrey’s books. Her stories and characters have depth. They aren’t just hearts and flowers and they always have just the right amount of sexiness to them. In a nutshell they are carefully crafted in every way. Each time I pick her new offering from this series I think “She will never out do the last one”, but she does every time. Where sometimes you feel too much similarity to previous books in a series, you never do with hers.

I loved both Catherine and her man (who shall not be named to avoid spoiling it for you). You often find in life that a successful woman never has it all, and Catherine is the perfect example of that. I loved reading her story and the unexpected twist and turns her life takes.

If you love good old fashioned romance that is guaranteed to give you all the feels, do not miss this book or indeed this series. I now wait patiently for the next instalment, so get writing Aubrey… I am addicted to this series and the characters you have created. – A MUST READ!

Book 3 in the brilliant Something series. This book can be read as a standalone as each book follows a new couple, however I recommend you read them all in order. This is a great series with great characters and this book will contain spoilers if you decide afterwards that you want to read them all; and believe me you will.

Kenzie Lane has been in love with the boy next door since she was 6 years old. He may be 10 years her senior, he is most definitely a player and unfortunately for her she has always been the little sister of his friend, so forever placed firmly in the friend zone. But Kenzie remains hopeful that one day he will notice her for the woman she has become; even moving to California to place herself directly in his radar. Alas the radar continues to be on the blink, until a little bet leads to something more.

PEm circle 200

Colby Singer has always been proud of his playboy reputation. He is also proud of his career and although close to his older brother has always felt the need for his approval. Kenzie Lane is like the little sister he never had. Okay, so she may have a slight crush on him, but he has maintained a platonic friendship with her and has been careful to never cross any lines to encourage it. So when she needs cheering up following a blow-up with her mother, Colby rushes in and takes her to the  one place that can cheer her up… Vegas. Little does he know how the best laid plans can suddenly go very wrong.

1 bet, 2 people and a simple kiss. Will Kenzie finally open Colby’s eyes? Or will Colby fall of the pedestal she has long placed him on?

I absolutely love this series and am not too proud to say I may have badgered Aubrey to get myself an ARC of Bet Me Something. Having read the previous 2 books back to back, I suddenly found myself anxiously waiting for Kenzie and Colby’s book. So I began channelling positive thoughts of speedy writing to the author. Then bam, suddenly it’s here. Eek, will it meet my expectations?

I love all of characters that Aubrey has pulled together in these books, but I have to say both Colby and Kenzie were characters that I really had a soft spot for. I loved these 2 in the previous books – the unrequited love versus the playboy. So understandably I then began to worry that when I finally got the story that it would lack in some way and not be how I so needed it to be.

Bravo Ms Bondurant, you pulled it out of the bloody bag with this story. It is abso-bloody-lutly perfect.

I don’t want to give any spoilers, but don’t expect it to be plain sailing for these two. If you think that Kenzie will be a pushover, think again. She is tough as boots and although madly in lust with Colby, she suddenly has her eyes opened to the fact that he isn’t as perfect and dreamy as she (or he himself) thinks. As for Colby, well he certainly has his work cut out with the vivacious Kenzi. Suddenly the girl he has always friend zoned becomes the ultimate challenge, and his hard earned reputation of player extraordinaire isn’t something he is proud of anymore.

A book full of love, friendship, sex and belly laughs. This is my favourite of the 3 books and that is saying something given how much I loved the previous 2. Aubrey describes her books as “smutty chick-lit” and I think that is bang on. The characters are engaging and the storylines fun. If you are looking for your perfect holiday read then look no further.

Meanwhile as I close my laptop, I do so channelling Aubrey those speedy writing positive thoughts again. I need Catherine’s book and I need it now.

Book 2 in the Something series. This book can be read as a standalone, however I would urge you to read book 1, Tell Me Something as it really is a great read, with overlapping characters and will give you a little more background on the main protagonists in this story.

Sasha Brookes, otherwise known as Sasha B Fierce is at 32, riding the successful wave that is her career in Advertising. Recently appointed as the VP in the New York branch of Gamble Advertising, she is living up to her reputation as fierce, dedicated and okay, maybe slight workaholic. It leaves little time for friends or relationships, which suits Sasha down to the ground given the issues that Sasha faces and has to deal with on a daily basis. But one man continues to distract her; too bad it’s her boss.

Brian Carpenter is laid back, professional and bloody good at his job. Based in the Charlotte office, he oversees the various branch VP’s, but it’s one VP in particular that keeps him on his toes. They have a friendship and business relationship spanning 8 years, and although he tries to keep a professional distance, Sasha is his siren and he blindly follows her call. But Brian isn’t into a cheap one night stand, he can get one of them any night of the week; no, he want a lot more. It’s going to be a challenge. Sasha is hard enough to manage in the boardroom, how difficult will she be in the bedroom?

Squeee…. Loved this book!! Having recently finished book one, I couldn’t wait to jump on this baby.

Would Aubrey’s talent continue to shine through?

Would she be a one book wonder?

Let me assure you that everything I loved about book 1, continued in this book. The writing is effortless and flowing, and the characters and their story captivates you very quickly. As with book 1, there is also a deeper subject matter dealt with, however it is done in a light way and you aren’t bogged down with seriousness.

Just loved Brian, he is one determined SOB and when I closed the book, I did it saying well played Brian. He knows what makes Sasha tick and he uses it to his advantage. As for Sasha, well never judge a book by its cover is all I will say. Looks can be deceiving and there is a lot more to Sasha than a pretty face, pencil skirt and 4” Louboutin’s.

If you like your romance to have loveable characters, hot sex, humour and a bit more depth, this book, indeed this series is a MUST READ!! Now my only question is… Will it be Catherine or Kenzie next?

She just has to maintain a professional distance; easy! Or is it…

Okay, so the whole Millionaire/CEO romances used to be a real guilty pleasure of mine. I devoured them until one day I realised I was just reading the same old crap, rehashed with a different cover and a different author. So I have to tell you that it has been a long time since I have wanted to pick up a book of this type. When I was asked to review Tell Me Something, I don’t mind telling you I was more than a little hesitant. I like my books to have more than the 1 dimensional stories and characters that this genre is awash with. Let me tell you now, Aubrey Bondurant has seriously delivered with her debut novel. It really is a bloody gem of a story.

Unlike so many authors who write in this genre, she has really thought about the story she has put together. She has created two strong protagonists that have their own stories; thankfully no timid shrinking violets to put us to sleep, or the whole dominant, submissive yawn fest that quite frankly is well past its sell by date. What we have is two characters that are equal in their wants and needs and who have great depth, light and shade to them. She takes them and us on a journey, which leads them from the dullness of the past and into a brighter and happier future… well hopefully. You will need to read it yourself to find that out.

But what I loved most about this book was the way it was written. Aubrey mixes serious, sex (very hot sex), angst and light hearted humour so well; creating a book that I really struggled to put down. I am seriously gobsmacked that this is her first book. Let me say, many an accomplished writer don’t have the skills to write in such a flowing way. That takes talent, and Ms Boudurant has it in spates.

A brilliant romance full of great characters, sex, humour and angst. I loved it and can’t wait to turn my kindle on and read book 2, Ask Me Something. If you love your CEO/Millionaire reads or if like me you were jaded by them, give it a go… you won’t regret it!
