Book 3 in the Hearts series. You do not need to have read the previous 2 books in this series to enjoy Elastic  Hearts, however I insist you do as they are both amazing reads with Paper heart (#2) being my favourite second chance romance EVER!

Victor Reuben has watched his best friends and sister find love over the past few years. He is happy for them but it isn’t for him. He is committed to his career as a top divorce lawyer, forging a pathway to finally making partner. He likes his women fast and without expectation. The only woman he ever let get too close was Nicole, a woman he broke his own rules with and whom he hooked up with on several occasions. When he found out she was the daughter of his new boss he knew he had to end things, little did he know how much of a gut punch he would feel when he found out she was getting engaged to another man just 3 weeks later. Then she walks back into his life and he has the much desired partnership in his grasp; getting it however, maybe his downfall.

Nicole Alessi is getting divorced from her film star husband. The fairytale is over and the happily ever after nil and void. The relationship with Gabriel was always so fast and furious. She was happy and in love once, but as Gabe’s star shined brighter their relationship lost its sparkle and fast. So with her marriage breakdown in the spotlight she turns to her father’s law firm to end it for good. What she didn’t expect was to have to deal with Victor, the one that got away all those years ago. The spark and the want is still there, but can she leave the past in the past or will it come back to bite her on the behind?

PEm circle 200

A celebrity divorce is a paparazzi dream, but a relationship between a lawyer and the wife of the biggest star in Hollywood who he is representing would be the biggest scandal of all!

I have really loved this series, not just because Claire Contreras’s writing is so good or that each book has been a different take on a second chance romance. It is because I have loved the characters she has written about. From Estelle and Oliver to Mia and Jensen and now Nicole and Victor, each book is told in duel POV so you get all parts of the story which in second chance romances is a must in my opinion. You get the full story warts and all, and it makes the book all the better for it.

I have loved Victor since book 1, so I was looking forward to getting more of his story. He was a lot more alpha dog than I expected to be honest, but because of his line of work it totally suited him. Nicole is a cool character. You can’t help but wonder if she rushed in to marriage with Gabe because of Victor, but I like to think she did. But don’t expect insta- reconnection. This is a slow burn because of the situation they both find themselves in, but that is what is fun about the book. I loved the obstacles that they themselves place and the obvious desire throughout that they battle so hard against.

It in all honesty isn’t my favourite book of the 3, but Paper Hearts was always going to be a massive book to follow because it blew me away. However, this is still a great book and like those before it a very different take on second chance romance. I am sad to wave goodbye to this great group of characters.

Another good read in a brilliant series.

Paper Hearts is book 2 in the Hearts series. This book also includes the novella Torn Hearts which is book 1.5 in the series and is the prequel to this story. These books do not need to be read after Kaleidoscope Hearts as each book in the series can be read as a standalone. However I highly recommend you do as it really sets the scene for Jensen and Mia’s story.

Torn Hearts

This book takes us back to the beginning. We knew after reading book 1 that there is bad blood and most definitely a big story around the very difficult relationship that Jensen and Mia have in the present. 5 years ago they were in love, they had the world at their feet and a future planned out. Mia was Jensen’s lifeline and he adored her. For Mia, the world begun and ended with Jensen. So what happens when a whole country stands between them? And what happened to turn such deep devoted love to HATE!

Paper Hearts

Mia is on the move. Having decided to move her career forward, when an opportunity arises and she is offered the chance to work on the photography for a major spread in one of the most read publications in the country, she jumps at the chance. The only concern she has is that it means moving across the country to NYC and possibly into contact with the person that broke her heart. Determined to not let the memories of 5 years ago stop her she makes the move. She is over Jensen, so what’s the worst that could happen?

Jensen has been building his career as a writer in NYC for the last 5 years. A successful, published children’s series, popular weekly column and freelance work means he has really made a name for himself. When he is asked to write for a spread on second chance romances, he knows it won’t be easy. It means working with the one girl he has never got over, his first love, former best friend and the one that got away. He is determined to reconnect and rebuild a relationship with Mia, but will he ever get her to forgive him, and indeed will he be able to forgive her for abandoning him when he needed her the most.

Blimey that was hard. It is really important that you head into these books blind, I so didn’t want to give anything away.

These books are fantastic. I LOVED book 1 and although I was excited about the prospect of Jensen and Mia’s story, I also wasn’t sure how it could match Kaleidoscope Hearts. Firstly, although both books are second chance romances, this one is very different. This is about 2 people who were each other rocks, their forever. It is the story of how one decision and one mistake can change the course of your life. It is also about soulmates and whether 2 souls that are meant for each other can find each other again, even after the heart breaking events of the past.

Jensen and Mia’s love is so true and honest and you route for them throughout. The road they have to travel is so poignantly difficult for them both, and they must deal with the situations they find themselves in in both the present but also the ones they experienced in the past. You will feel Mia’s hurt and Jensen’s hope. It is a beautiful story and one I will go out on a limb for by saying, this is without doubt the best second chance romance I have ever read. If you think Claire Contreras only writes dark romance then you are so wrong. She also writes romances full of heartbreak, angst and everlasting love.

A beautifully wrote romance, full of heart and hope – A MUST READ book in a MUST READ series. I can’t recommend it enough. AMAZING!!
