Moving across the country was supposed to be a fresh start. I’d made mistakes, but I told myself I’d no longer prey on emotionally unstable women. I don’t do relationships—I’m a selfish bastard that enjoys not answering to anyone—and relationships mean being with only one woman. More often than not, one that carries emotional baggage, like cheating exes or worse—kids.
After landing myself in trouble, again, my cousin Charlie dared me to settle down with one woman. I’m not one to shy away from a dare, so I chose Scarlett Winters, the most wanted actress in Hollywood. The sexiest woman on Earth.I just needed to get past the roadblock—her assistant, Morgan Bentley.
The wicked bitch of the west.
Between her multiple personalities and the giant stick up her ass, I should’ve seen it coming. I’d been with enough women to read the signs. Morgan Bentley was after one thing, and one thing only. A rebound.
That’s me, right?
Mr Rebound.
But what if this time I wanted more?

Mr. Rebound is a standalone romantic comedy, although fans of this author will recognise the secondary characters that pop up throughout.

Noah Mason is a predator. Nowhere near to settling down and dealing with the emotions of a relationship, he preys on women looking for a rebound. It has really worked for him and he is never short of a woman to warm his bed, a closet or club restroom. Until he chooses the wrong woman and finds himself flying across the country to start afresh. His Cousin Charlie is well aware of his reputation and is determined to challenge him to change his ways after another near miss that could have had him moving on once again. So to put her off the scent he chooses Scarlett Winters, Hollywood leading lady, and someone so far out of his league that it is bound to get Charlie off his back and his happily relationship free. What he doesn’t expect is to suddenly find himself working alongside her. Even more unexpected is the gorgeous Morgan Bentley, Scarlett’s assistant. As beautiful as she is, she makes his life hell. She is one woman that won’t fall for the infamous Noah charm. But you know what they say, treat them mean to keep them keen. Noah soon finds himself in unchartered waters, but will Mr. Rebound meet his match? Or will he find himself doing what he does best?

I absolutely LOVED this book. One thing Kat T. Masen does well is comedy, and believe me this book will have you roaring. Told pretty much exclusively by Noah, the narrative is spot on. Is he a user, well abso-blody-lutley, but he feels he is providing a service… until it all goes wrong for him. It is the wake-up call he needs and he is determined to choose another path; although not the relationship path I might add. Reading about his thoughts and where they lead him was entertaining, light-hearted and I couldn’t help falling in love with him.

In Bentley Morgan he meets his match, but this isn’t a formulaic, disposable love story. It might be light-hearted and fun, but Bentley Morgan has issues that they must both overcome if he is to become more than just Mr. Rebound. And that is probably what I love most about this book. It would be so easy to churn out a funny rom com, light on storyline and for want of a better word generic, but by adding another layer of story, this has turned Mr. Rebound into a delicious story that you will devour like I did.

Shout out to the secondary characters. If you are a Kat fan you will adore it. Charlie, Lex and Kate from The Dark Love series are here, as are Presley and Haden from #Jerk. It was like spending time with old friends and it enriched the book all the more for it.

A great, hilariously funny read and one that I highly recommend. If you have yet to dive into any books by Kat. T. Masen then what are you waiting for. A great author, with a gift for writing love stories with gripping and often humorous storylines. Another great book Kat, can’t wait for the next. (Kate… PLEASE)

Turning thirty is overrated. Who said you had to be married with a fabulous career and three kids? I had a great life. Single, freedom to do whatever I please, and best of all, stay home on a Friday night in my sweats, eating pizza while listening to the best of the ’80s.
I’m fine.
When a woman says she’s fine, she’s not fine. Zoey had it all. Stunning looks, ambition, the whole package. Then he fucked her up. He broke her.
And now I’m left picking up the pieces…again.
Zoey Richards, strong-willed and driven, settled on the geeky struggling med student to share her apartment with, not the perfect-in-every-way stud who would just distract her and undoubtedly break her heart.
When her ex comes back into the picture, Zoey seeks revenge and enlists her roommate’s help. All Zoey and Drew need to do is pretend to be a couple for one night. But one night can change everything. Refusing to break their “roomie code,” and in an effort to deny their feelings for each other, a war erupts between Zoey and Drew.
She lives in the past; he, for the future. If opposites attract, will these two gamble their friendship for a chance at love?

Roomie Wars is a standalone romance and is not related to any other books written by this author.

Zoey is just about to turn 30, is in a job that seems to be going nowhere fast and is nursing a crushed heart following the break-up with the latest bad boy. Much to her roomie’s disgust, she has spent too many months sitting on the couch and gorging on crap t.v, 80’s music and junk food. To top it off, she also has the pleasure of watching her roommate and best friend parade an endless amount of hook-ups through their apartment. Who knew 4 years ago that the chubby nerd called Andrew would become a chick magnet, health freak now going by Drew.

Drew has watched Zoey go from an ambitious hot young woman into a broken hearted slob. Gone is the strong-willed woman he met 4 years ago and it is all down to a man that never deserved her anyway. Like always he is there for her, encouraging and being the best friend he can be. But when the chance of losing her becomes too real, will he be honest about his feelings? Or will he deny them to keep their friendship intact?

They have worked as roommates for so long because they have never broken the rules they set and stuck to from the start. But when Jess makes a re-appearance, Zoey asks Drew a huge favour. Lines will get blurred and their friendship may or may not suffer. Will they follow the roomie code or will they break them all?

Another great read from an author that is fast becoming a favourite of mine. Once again, as with her previous read #Jerk, Kat has wrote a book that is in essence a romantic comedy, but a rom-com that has a little bit more heart to it. I laughed, my heart broke and of course, as with all her books, expect there to be the angst factor.

I totally related to Zoey. Her life is at a crossroads and she can’t choose the best direction for the fog that blinds her. The only beacon is Drew, but the feeling that he has begun to stir are a struggle for her because he is the only person in her life who she trusts. As for Drew, well he is hot and yes he knows it. A total man-whore, but one with a heart and one that cares deeply for Zoey. When he is faced with losing her, his true feelings surprise him. In his heart he is still the boy with lingering abandonment issues and he is unwilling to risk their friendship because of any unrequited feelings he may have.

A great pull and push friends to lovers romance, with lots of laughs, nostalgic 80’s music references and two characters that would rather go to war than risk rejection and the loss of a friendship. A really enjoyable summer read. Another book by an author I highly recommend.

He was that boy in the playground. The one that pulled your pigtails. The one that lifted your dress in front of the entire school. Now he's that guy in the office. The one that steals your lunch from the fridge. The one that gets away with everything. I'm sure you know him. Everyone knows that guy. He's a #JERK.
Presley Malone knew her relationship with her fiancé, Jason, had run its course. The second that ring came off her finger, she didn't expect to be the pawn in an immature game played by the office jerk.
His name is Haden Cooper, and he is six years younger than her. Immature and irresponsible, getting drunk and stoned every weekend like he never left college. He rode a motorcycle, carrying a different girl each week. He was everything a jerk should be—insensitive, unreliable, and most importantly, a heartbreaker.
Haden enjoyed playing games, and when it came to Presley Malone, it was all too easy. Miss Know-it-all with her over-the-top OCD was soon going to get a taste of what it was like to live on the edge.
But what starts off as an innocent prank soon becomes an unhealthy obsession.
He is wrong for her and she is wrong for him. It's a battle of the sexes ready to go to war. But in this battle there are no winners, and it takes only one fateful night and six tequilas for their lives to take an unexpected turn that changes them both forever.

#Jerk is a standalone contemporary romance, however fans of The Dark Angel series may recognise a few characters who make a cameo appearance.

The Oxford Dictionaries definition of a jerk is: A Contemptibly obnoxious person. This is what Haden Cooper is to Presley Malone. Having recently broken up with her Fiancé, Presley isn’t looking for love. Of course at 32, she like most single thirty something women has fears of turning into a middle aged cat lady, but she isn’t heartbroken. Jason was great, she loved him but it was all just a little easy, a little too comfortable. Instead she decides that being the super organised OCD freak that she is, she will take her time finding the one, honouring her 7 week sex rule, whilst throwing herself into her job. However, her working hours would be much more pleasant if she didn’t have to contend with the jerk that has done nothing but annoy her since he started 6 months ago. Haden Cooper is the most egotistical, smarmy and womanising man she has ever had the misfortune of meeting. He is under her skin and not in the best way either. He is like a bad case of hives… but as we all know hives have a tendency to be itchy, and well itches always need to be scratched.

I’m going to stop right there, my lips are sealed so as not to give away any spoilers.

There is nothing better than picking up a book, reading it and then immediately looking for that authors back catalogue. Seriously guys, for me there is nothing better than finding an author that ticks all your boxes. Kat T. Masen did that for me with #Jerk. This is one of those books that keeps you entertained form beginning to end.

Presley, well I think most single girls in their 30’s will relate to her. Slightly neurotic and just a little OCD, she like many of us women is a planner. She knows how she wants her life to go and she has mapped every single step out. But life is life, and things happen that blows your well laid plans apart. I loved her humour, understood her frustrations, I just got HER!

Haden, seriously what a fab character. Yes he has an ego the size of Texas and he loves to throw a good tantrum, but unpeel his layers and he is just the lonely boy in the playground who wants to be noticed by the pretty girl. He puts Presley through lots and at times he needs to seriously work on his deliverance, but when it matters he steps up to the plate and shows he is more than a hot body and pretty face. Much, much more than a #Jerk.

As I have already alluded, this is my first Kat T. Masen book, but believe me it won’t be my last. I already have the first 2 books in her Dark Angel series waiting for me to devour as I did this one. Her writing has every element that I love. Sexiness, angst, humour and a good love story with characters that are well developed and have a good depth to them. If you enjoy Emma Chase books, you will enjoy this; it has that same romantic comedy feel about it.

A brilliant story with some great characters, it is a book I highly recommend. I am super excited to have found myself a new author and I can’t wait to get stuck into her other titles.
