Show Me How (Thatch #3) by Molly McAdams

New York Times bestselling author Molly McAdams delivers another heart-wrenching, emotional novel in her Thatch series…

After her first love was ripped from her grasp four years earlier, Charlie Easton was sure she would never be able to trust anyone with the shattered pieces of her heart again. That is, until Deacon Carver forces himself into her life, and makes those pieces swirl in chaos. But Charlie doesn’t know how to let him in… until a stranger stumbles upon a notebook filled with her innermost secrets, and shows her how.

Deacon Carver is known for sleeping his way through the town of Thatch, as well as the surrounding cities—something he used to take pride in. But that persona has haunted Deacon ever since he decided to leave that life behind for the girl he wants more than anything: Charlie Easton.

But when another girl falls into Deacon’s life, allowing him to be himself without judgment for his past, will their conversations hinder his relationship with Charlie … even if he’s never seen her?

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Molly McAdams’ powerful new novel offers one of the most memorable love triangles in fiction since Twilight—perfect for fans of New Adult fiction like Jamie McGuire, Abbi Glines, and Tamarra Webber.

Futures are uncertain, unpredictable—like ink spilled across the purest surface. Nearly imperceptible ripples move and flow until a unique stain is formed. The ink is permanently imbedded in the surface…
During one wild night in college, Jentry Michaels is a tidal wave of ink that brands Aurora Wilde’s soul. An unparalleled stain she can’t forget despite the many months that have passed—and despite the distraction she’d hoped she would find in her new relationship with Declan, the charmer who captured her heart soon after. Jentry has irrevocably touched her soul, and he is intertwined in her present and future in ways she never fathomed. Now Aurora is faced with keeping that night hidden though it feels as if the ink has indelibly etched their story across her skin.
When Declan is confronted with his own personal demons, Aurora must decide if she will continue to hold tight to their relationship and a safe, reliable future with him, or if she will turn to Jentry—the guy she can’t forget no matter how hard she tries.…

4 Crowns

Book 2 in the Thatch series. You do not need to have read book 1 to enjoy this read, however if you have you will find some characters interlink the books.

Harlow Evans never expected to fall in love at 15. Meeting Knox Alexander seemed like fate, but at 18 the age gap was one that they couldn’t ignore. He was off to college, how could she expect him to wait for her to reach the magical 18 that meant they could at last be together? But the relationship had a connection so deep that he was willing to do just that, even when she told him he was wasting his time. Every birthday, he would tell her that they were one year closer and each year she would wish the time away until the next. And then she reached the milestone and everything she had wished for with Knox vanished.

Knox Alexander gave his heart away 7 years ago. When he met Harlow, he had no idea she was 15. He was willing to wait and wait he did, until one day she didn’t just break his heart, she tore it from his chest. Since then his love life has become a carousel of nameless faces and empty, meaningless sex. He is happy with the status quo, how could he not be; he has no intentions of ever giving away his heart when it still belongs to someone else.

Life has changed for both Harlow and Knox. They are apart and in a place in their lives that they never dreamt of when they met all that time ago. But one chance meeting becomes a pivotal point in their futures. Can Harlow escape the live she is forced to endure? And can Knox finally win back the girl and love the woman she’s now become?

Reader alert. This is a serious book, tackling a serious subject matter. Domestic abuse goes on behind far too many homes across the world. I felt Harlow’s fear and the pain and regret she has in the choices she has made. Molly has created a character in Harlow that reached out to me not only as a woman, but also as a human being that believes that no-one should ever be controlled and in fear for their safety from a person that claims to love them. I luckily haven’t ever experienced any of this, but I have known someone who has and who has also moved on with their life with a protector and a man that treats her as his queen. In Knox Alexander we have that character. Yes, he loves her and has loved her for many years, but what I liked about Knox was that he wasn’t about to use the relationship and love they once had to influence her. He wanted her safe and no matter where that led them, he would do his upmost to give her that. But it would always be her choice.

I honestly do feel that Molly is super brave taking on a subject that will have effected so many of her readers. In the story she has created, she has tackled a sensitive subject with honesty, reality and of course compassion. It really is a good book. Not a five for me, but that isn’t because it’s not a great and well written book. It was just heavy going at times for my personal taste. I like a little more romance in my reads, but I suppose sensibly given the nature of the subject matter it wasn’t a book that warranted the hearts and flowers I often like. But hey this is Molly McAdams, she likes to make are hearts hurt just a little.

A slow burn second chance romance that will break your heart as much as the ending will mend it. I look forward to reading more books in this series.
